There is enough space on pages if you'd like to write/add your own notes :-) I like the cover, it does seem to be made for repeated flipping!
This edition has Efficient preparation section that was missing in some previous years. I think it's a very good section that was out for several years.

Customer Review: This book is such a great read. Even if you have not ever been diagnosed with Hypothyroid, you should read this book. Especially if you haven't.
The information in the book is eye opening. Now I know for sure why I feel the way I do and know why certain people in my family died.
I have switched my meds to desiccated thyroid hormone as indicated in the book. It's just a month and I already see an improvement from my Synthroid.
This book may have saved my life.

Customer Review: I absolutely loved this book. I do not have enough money take any $200-$300 classes so I decided to buy this book instead. I am so glad that I did. Although I will be having a hospital birth due to the lack of birth centers and lack of midwives in my area, this book had information that I can use for my natural birth in the hospital. The author is not a big fan of hospitals but I enjoyed the book because I could look past her opinions. Some people who are having hospital births may not like the book because the first half of the book talks about natural birth at a birth center. Although I will not be able to relate, the stories were very encouraging. I would recommend this book to first time...

Customer Review: This book was THE resource I needed! I was determined to nurse my daughter no matter what hardships I encountered, but I was a definitely nervous that it would be too difficult, as you so often hear veteran mothers say. This book helped me to feel informed and relaxed about nursing once my daughter arrived. The main message I took away is that breastfeeding is the way nature intended babies to be fed and it can be challenging, especially in the beginning, but once you get the hang of it, nothing could be easier. So true! I nursed my daughter for 2 years and am gearing up for baby #2. I referenced this book numerous times throughout our nursing relationship as various situations arose. ...

Customer Review: I found the book interesting and certainly worth the read. However I did find some of the author's embellishments to be irritating. For instance describing the colour of the night sky or the detailed layout of the lab, I kept wandering "how could she know that?"
Also this is a technical book (albeit about chemistry and biology), but where the author describes the execution of two characters (page 174) using "a current of 2000 Volts" my antenna started flashing that there may be other possibly incorrect facts in the book. Current is measured in Amperes!
I also did find the description of the executions as not germane to the rest of the book.
